What is Anchored Christian Academy?
We are a Bible based, drop-off, Christian hybrid school. We strive to connect homeschool families to Jesus, each other, and our community.
Where do you meet?
We meet at North Valley Bible Church in Harrisville, Utah (2224 US-89, Harrisville, UT 84404). The church does not operate our school, however it has offered the space as a ministry to homeschooling families and as an outreach to the community. Our school is made up of families who attend a wide variety of churches throughout Davis and Weber counties.
When do you meet?
We meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 AM - 2:30 PM for 30 weeks from September through May. Enrichment classes will be offered sporadically throughout the year and will be either before or after the standard school day.
What ages can participate?
We currently have classes for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade, but we hope to expand to high school in the future. Kindergarten enrollment is only open to families who will be enrolling an older student as well.
What types of classes do you have?
We offer a 4-hour academic class day, which includes Bible, Math, Language Arts, Science, and History. Enrichment class options change throughout the year depending on the needs and desires of those involved.
What is an enrichment class?
An enrichment class is an add on class that covers a wide range of topics, grade groupings, and time frames. These classes are held either before or after the core school day and allow parents to outsource additional subjects that their students may be interested in. We currently have American Sign Language, Snapology, pickleball, art, and theater on our enrichment class schedule.
Who teaches the classes?
Anchored classes are taught by homeschool parents with a passion for teaching and Anchored's mission. Because we are a Bible-based school that seeks to raise our children with a Biblical worldview to love Jesus and share His light with those around us, we require that all leadership members and teachers agree with and sign the Statement of Faith and commit to teach according to it. All teachers and teacher's aids are required to submit to a background check as well.
Is there homework and is the homework required?
Yes, there is homework. Students are required to complete 2 days of Math and Language Arts at home every week that there are classes. 4th-8th grade also will complete 2 science lessons at home every week. Anchored is a hybrid school program in which students follow curriculum together so they can complete a full year of school throughout the duration of the program.
What are parents expected to do?
Parents are responsible to ensure their students complete their at-home work and provide instruction to their students as needed during their at-home school days. Additionally, each family has a 10-hour volunteer requirement they must fulfill throughout the duration of the school year. These hours can be fulfilled by substituting, teaching an enrichment class, volunteering for class parties and even some at home volunteering such as the lunch program or field trip planner.
How much does it cost?
$500 per student per semester, totaling $1,000 per student for the year. There is an additional cost for curriculum, which can range anywhere from $100-$250 per student depending on the grade.
What reimbursements are available for your program?
We are approved vendors for the Utah Fits All Scholarship. This can allow families to be reimbursed for tuition and enrichment class fees. Because we are a Christian school, we unfortunately do not qualify for reimbursements through OpenEd or HarmonyEd.
When is Registration?
Registration for the full school year ends on August 15th, 2025.
